Alternative ways of checking machine model & serial number if sticker below laptop is unreadable
You can check your machine serial number through a few methods:
- Bios
- Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox
- Lenovo Warranty Look-up Page
Method 1: Bios
- Go into BIOS...I don't know what it looks like on X301, but should state something like "unit serial number".
- The first seven characters are your model number (like 2373KTU) and the rest is the actual serial (L3878PC9 for instance)
Method 2: Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox
- You can look that up in Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox in Windows.
- If you do not have this tool, download it from http://www.lenovo.com/support site.
Method 3: Lenovo Warranty Look-up Page
- Use Internet Explorer 6 and above to browse to Lenovo Warranty Look Up page.
- Click on Auto-Detect and you'll be directed to a page with your warranty status along with your machine serial number
