Alternative ways of checking machine model & serial number if sticker below laptop is unreadable

You can check your machine serial number through a few methods:

  1. Bios
  2. Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox
  3. Lenovo Warranty Look-up Page

Method 1: Bios

  1. Go into BIOS...I don't know what it looks like on X301, but should state something like "unit serial number".
  2. The first seven characters are your model number (like 2373KTU) and the rest is the actual serial (L3878PC9 for instance)

Method 2: Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox

  1. You can look that up in Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox in Windows.
  2. If you do not have this tool, download it from http://www.lenovo.com/support site.
